England - Eastbourne 6th form

Ladies and Gents,

To all the students of the 6th form this sentence will always be the key memory to the week we spent in Eastbourne. Our beloved tour guide Simon Lawrence led us through the town and organized our trips.

Host families

There was mixed feedback about our host families and the food we got, but it worked out well for most people. One of the biggest problems was the distance we all had to each other, and the bus system. Truth to be told, nobody was right on time at the first day of school.

Beachy Head

It was really windy, but the view was worth it – the information about this one tree that only grows in one direction because of the wind not so much. We had to walk cautiously, because on the ground there were lots of rabbit holes. Back at the beach some of us built a rock tower with 23 small stones – That was HI record!!!

Brighton

An artsy town full of graffiti and vintage stores. A lot of people were not happy with the limited time, but to be honest we never would have come back if we had gotten more.

The town was full of history, the funniest story was the one about the fat prince and his pretty palace, which we past while walking through the wonderful park.

Luckily we got more time at the beach where we could chill out and have a great time.

London

We only saw a few sights, due to the heat and the long distances we had to walk.

We started at Buckingham Palace, stopped by Big Ben (sorry, Elisabeth Tower) and made our way to Piccadilly Circus.

The highlight was the two hours of free time we got to explore the city around Covent Garden.

Cricket Workshop

-Did we know what Cricket is?    -    No

-Do we now?    -    Also no

-Was it funnier than expected?    -    Surprisingly yes

Even tough afterwards we all were sore and we had a lot of bruises, most of us (including Mrs. Reischl) enjoyed playing it.

School

It really didn’t look good from the outside, but we surely had great fun inside.

Thanks to our three teachers David, Geraldine and Zeff, we had a great time talking, learning new vocabulary and producing our own plays and film trailers.

We wrote the scripts for a funny version of Snow White, a great production of Little Red Riding Hood, and three Sherlock Holmes trailers.

Fish and Chips

Even tough Fish and Chips is really fancied by a lot of people in England, we didn’t enjoy the supper that much. It was really greasy and a lot of us didn’t get a drink – but the seagulls seemed pretty happy to get the leftovers. :)

Overall, you can say it was an interesting week with a lot of action and fun.

There were some problems on the way (like a “wellness” coach without air conditioning) but in the end we got it sorted out and made a lot of memories.

Thank you Ms. Reischl, Ms Ruml, and Ms. Müller
